EVENT | Clayton Heights Secondary

I. love. dresses.

That’s why I shoot weddings. Honest to goodness; getting all dressed up and gettin’ your hair and make up did has got to be the most fun thing ever. I may be a bit of a girly girl to unabashadly (is that even how you spell that?) admit it, but I think every girl loves looking purdy. And I get to take pictures of it. All the time. :D
So when I was asked to come photograph Clayton Height’s Dry Grad, I was pretty excited. The girls – yes, there were guys too obviously, but let’s be honest – Grad is all about the ladies. Sorry guys! :P The girls all got changed into jeans and sweats soon after arrival, but as they filtered out of their four huge buses, they were all glammed up and looking AMAZING. Dress after dress after dress – tons of colours, tons of styles; all beautiful.
I really liked this dress – simple, elegant, and grecian-style. If it had been white, I may have attempted to steal it for my wedding dress. Honest to goodness.

Isn’t it sad that there are only a handful of occasions at which young people can wear a long dress at now-a-days? Grad, Wedding, Very Special Party oooooor if you are lounging on a beach in Mexico with a giant white sunhat and huge sunglasses. (I’ve always wanted to do that.) I wish we could dress up all fancy-like whenever we wanted. It would be awesome. Right? Minus the corsets. Corsets are bad news.

Anyways…. the Dry Grad was Mardi Gras themed, and the parents did an amazing job with decorating the school. There were millions of prizes and tons to do:

To start, there was Sumo wrestling. ‘Nuff said.

There was ice cream with tons of toppings, donated by Marble Slab. Mmmmmmmmmm.

And also there was this giant…. actually it’s really quite hard to describe. It’s like you are attached to a bungie cord and then see how far you can run before it flings you back. Insane!

Beautiful cupcakes that one of the moms made!
And the Mardi Gras decorations were pretty great.
Throw in a giant screen for Rockstar, foosball tables, a velcro obstacle course, spray tattoo bar, TONS of food, Jeopardy, poker tables…. this grad was freaking sweet. I don’t remember a whole lot about mine anymore, but I know for a fact that this grad would kick my grad’s butt.
Well, that’s all for now. Thanks to the grads who put up with my paparazzi shooting on their grad day – hope you like them!
Grads – join the facebook group to check out all the images from the night.
