I met Emily and Paul a little while ago for one of my first engagement sessions for next year. We decided on Vandusen Botanical Garden for our location, and I was a pretty happy girl – even though most of the fall leaves were gone elsewhere, Vandusen still had some colour to spare us.
I love engagement sessions. When I get a totally relaxed hour to photograph a couple ’pre-wedding’, it makes my job so much easier on the wedding day. I find out how to make them laugh, how to get them comfortable, what their best angles are, and most importantly – I just get to know them better, which makes me even more excited about their wedding. On the other end, I feel like the couple learns to trust me, and will feel so much more comfortable having me with them all day when the wedding rolls around. The other good thing is that they get a bunch of cool pictures, which most people use in some shape or form on the wedding day. Emily and Paul are getting a custom designed guestbook, which I L.O.V.E. I’ll post pictures of it when it’s ready.
Okay back on track: Emily and Paul are super cute together, and we managed to hit a gorgeous day – some of these look more like summer weather than fall to me! They are getting married next May at the Vancouver Yacht Club – I’m pretty stoked. :D
Here are some of my favourites:
