My wedding is officially five months away, and every now and then I am beginning to get waves of the wedding nerves. I picked up my dress the other day (and still LOVE it), buuuut it could be a bit looser on the top. SO I’ve decided to suck it up and lose those 10 pounds that I’ve gained since I met Adam (and therefore stopped caring.)

…Plus, I figure if I can’t get in shape now, I’ll be doomed when it comes to losing post baby pounds in a few years.

Anyways, to help me in my quest I started keeping track of what I eat every day on Caloriecount.com yesterday – it’s pretty cool! I had a feeling I was eating really really unhealthily, and I was right – yesterday I got a C+. :( FAIL.

And I even ate a banana AND and apple yesterday! These people sure are strict:

In honour of this little quest, today I will blog about some food I love. And then try to not run out the door to eat it.

1) Tim Horton’s French Vanilla Cappuccino. A bit sweet, but tasty.

2) I also love Honey Crullers, (the timbits in particular).

3) Tim Horton’s breakfast sandwiches – but I don’t eat egg, and I don’t like processed cheese….so I suppose I just like that biscuit. I love biscuits.

YUM.

4) Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cakes. This is my little sister blowing out some candles on her 20th birthday a few months ago. YUM x 100.

Ok enough food – I’m getting junk food cravings and I just had breakfast! Here’s something I love that has absolutely no calories: SNOW. It looks to me like we won’t get any more snow this year though…. :(

It snowed on our annual family Christmas tree hunting day this year!

My nephew read this sign:
….And then proceeded to smell the tree. Awesome.

And, because you all begged me for another picture of the cutest one year old in the world (well, no one actually begged but I just took the liberty of assuming) here he is!

Okay, back to work for me. Hope you’re all having a good Tuesday!

Until I have kids of my own, my two little nephews and brand new niece officially hold the title of the cutest kids in the world. (Please don’t argue, it is indisputable). :)

Adam’s family is pretty much entirely male. He has four brothers, and only a handful of female cousins. (It’s actually quite eerie.) I really really hope that we have at least one daughter – but right now it doesn’t look so likely. BUT when our niece was born just over five weeks ago (and everyone went into shock) I saw a little ray of hope that the female gene DOES exist in his family. :D

And here she is, one week old: And while we’re on the topic, here are some shots I took of our nephews way back in August.
I took all of these summer shots with my old 50mm 1.4, which was having auto focus problems at the time. These guys are both so fast – it was really hard shooting on manual focus! It was soon after this I broke down and bought the 50mm 1.2. So glad I did. :)

So anyways – aren’t they cute? (Yes, there IS a right answer to this question.) :P

Hope you’re all having a great Thursday!

When I was little – probably about grade three, come to think of it – we read a book in school called The Secret World of Og. I remember thinking it was fantastic – these kids played just like I did, but had real adventures in secret lands with little green men.

The youngest child in the book was a baby named Paul – but everyone called him Pollywog. He was constantly trying to escape (I think they said in the book that he was headed for the Mexican border.) Here’s a quote from the book; read it if you need a smile:

“On the afternoon that It happened, the Pollywog [the baby, Paul] was in jail as usual; and as usual, he was trying to escape. For his entire life, which seemed to him to have been very long but was actually only twelve months, he had been staring out at the world from behind bars.

First, there had been the crib in the hospital, into which they popped him after he was born, and then there was the crib at home. Sometimes they would take him out of the crib, and pop him in the playpen; more bars. The Pollywog would grip the bars, like a convict, and stare out at the world. He would work out elaborate means of escape and sometimes he actually succeeded in escaping. Nobody ever knew how he did it, but the fact was that occasionally he would be discovered outside his playpen or crib or down off the high chair, which was his third prison.”

Has anyone else read this book, or do I just sound like a crazy person right about now? :P

Anyways, the reason I bring this up is that last Saturday I had my last family session of the year, and one of the boys was a real life Pollywog. If he was out of our sight for just one second – he was off! It was pretty hilarious. :)

We met at Campbell Valley Park in South Langley. It was really chilly, and these boys weren’t too excited about either the cold or the camera. But, all things considered, they did a really good job! Check it out:

Is that a Pollywog moment on the right?

Big Brother:

I’m quite happy with this shot because it was a tough one to get! The younger two boys (yes, twins!) were real speed-demons.

Chuckles with Dad:

Smiles with Mom:

Love the fall colours at the park.

These shots below are my favourites. Mom and Dad were real troopers sitting down on the freezing cement, so we had a tickle-fest and shot really quickly.

I’ll leave you all with this shot. Let’s call it How the Pollywog Finally Escaped (which, incidentally, is also Chapter Three of that book.)

On a side note, my very first niece was born today! Early Christmas present for me. :) Hope you’re all having a good Monday!

I met this super nice family a couple of weeks ago at Fort Langley; one of my favourite places to go if it looks like rain. (And this time of year in Vancouver it pretty much always looks like rain.) :P

I really do love shooting weddings, but my number one favourite thing to do is family portraits (especially when there are little kids involved). I’ve always considered myself a ‘kid person’ – you know, like some people consider themselves ‘dog people’. (Side note: I’m not really a dog person.) I think that both the hardest and most rewarding thing ever is to catch a really great portrait of a child. They move so quickly, often don’t like taking pictures, and let’s face it – having a camera right in your face (which is what I often need to do to get a really awesome shot) can be a little intimidating. I usually just try to stay really calm and really patient, and trust that at some point in the session, I’ll manage to catch it.

Presenting the whole family:

And we can’t forget the fifth family member; ‘Clip Clop’. (That is seriously his name. Awesome, right?)

My favourite shot of their oldest:

My favourite of their youngest:

Fort Langley has so many awesome spots – especially on a cloudy day you can shoot pretty much anywhere.

This little guy wasn’t too happy about pictures, so he decided he was going to play with a stick instead. Works for me! :)
