Until I have kids of my own, my two little nephews and brand new niece officially hold the title of the cutest kids in the world. (Please don’t argue, it is indisputable). :)

Adam’s family is pretty much entirely male. He has four brothers, and only a handful of female cousins. (It’s actually quite eerie.) I really really hope that we have at least one daughter – but right now it doesn’t look so likely. BUT when our niece was born just over five weeks ago (and everyone went into shock) I saw a little ray of hope that the female gene DOES exist in his family. :D

And here she is, one week old: And while we’re on the topic, here are some shots I took of our nephews way back in August.
I took all of these summer shots with my old 50mm 1.4, which was having auto focus problems at the time. These guys are both so fast – it was really hard shooting on manual focus! It was soon after this I broke down and bought the 50mm 1.2. So glad I did. :)

So anyways – aren’t they cute? (Yes, there IS a right answer to this question.) :P

I’m still learning the fine art of baby pictures – boy is it tough! Baby Ainsley was just 10 days old when I met her, and she was just making the change from sleeping-all-day-super-easy-to-position-and-take-cool-pictures-of-baby to definitely-not-wanting-to-sleep-at-all-and-not-being-too-happy-about-the-whole-picture-taking-situation-baby. Her dad even took her for a quick car ride to put her to sleep, but to no avail. All of the pictures below that look like she is sleeping were actually taken either when she closed her eyes to rest for a second, or actually did fall asleep…..for about one minute at a time. All in all, it was hard work – but so worth it. Adorable adorable adorable. (Especially the parts where she kept peeing on our blanket props. Hilarious.) :)

The next newborn I photograph, I think I’ll try my hardest to get them at about 5-8 days. I’m itching to try some cool posing with an easy sleepy baby. That being said, Ainsley was pretty darn cute anyway:

“It is a Saturday evening. The sun is hitting the earth at an angle, throwing long shadows across the grass. Laughter echoes through the trees and no one is walking – if getting up is unavoidable, strolling is thing to do. For today is Saturday, and Monday morning is ages and ages away.

Saturday evenings at Jericho beach mean relaxation, laughter, and happiness. Jack is at Jericho beach too, just over one year old, wearing his favourite hat and exploring with his two favourite people in the entire world.”

The light was beautiful – the perfect time of day.

This was the first time Jack had been to the ocean while being old enough to know he was there. He was pretty impressed.

How many times do you find a blossoming tree growing right on the beach?

I found these cool blue storage lockers thanks to a post by the wonderful miss Jamie Delaine.

We had planned on shooting around the hostel at Jericho beach, but there were so many other cool spots around that we just got a couple shots in here at the end:

I had so many things to do I just got to this video now! (These images are from this post way back about two or three weeks ago.)

I’m packing for my trip to Peru this weekend, so this is the last of anything photography related until I hop on the plane. Yes, Peru! My sister Jenny and I are heading off backpack across Peru for 5 weeks, and I’m starting to get pretty excited. (I’ll be trying to blog about it as we go!)

Anyways, without further ado, here are the cuter than cute portraits of my nephew Tyler at 4.5 months:
