So yes - I have been a bad, bad, blogger as of late – but these past two weeks of re-adjustment and work catch-up have been pretty good, so I’m feeling like it’s time to get back to it!
All of my pictures from Peru have been tweaked for exposure and white balance, and are currently being transformed from RAW to JPEG…. it takes a while, but I’m trying to be patient. I had to buy a new external hardrive yesterday because my computer was finally filled to the brim with pictures, and while I was out, I picked up a new lens – a Canon 50mm 1.4. The reason for this purchase was that I broke my old 50mm into two pieces near the end of our trip. I don’t even know how it happened, I just started trying to use the camera, realized something was wrong, and the next thing I knew – the lens was in two pieces in my hand. True story. This is why your wedding photographer requires lots of back-up equipment. (Especially if your photographer is me.)
Lucky for me, the 50mm 1.8 was the cheapest lens I owned, and I had been wanting to upgrade anyway. But I was still a little sad – it took lots of nice pictures for me, and was so cute! The good news is, I love the new lens five times more, so I quickly forgot about the old one. :D
Here is my first test shot with my new lens:
So….. I pretty much love it – the minimal depth of field is awesome, and it will be the perfect lens for low light reception shots when I really don’t feel like using flash.
For those of you who don’t recognize the girl above, that is my older sister Katie! “Why don’t you ever post pictures of her,” you ask? Baaaasically because my younger sister loves photoshoots, and is a major lime-light hog. Katie really couldn’t care less. Lucky for her though, Jenny wasn’t home when I brought home my new toy, so she finally is making her debut on the blog! :P
Just in case Jenny gets jealous…. so here is one of her too, which doubles as a sneak peak of the pictures I’m loading!
PS Jens I’m totally kidding, you’re not a camera-hog. Not really, anyway. :P
That’s all for now!
