I met this super nice family a couple of weeks ago at Fort Langley; one of my favourite places to go if it looks like rain. (And this time of year in Vancouver it pretty much always looks like rain.) :P
I really do love shooting weddings, but my number one favourite thing to do is family portraits (especially when there are little kids involved). I’ve always considered myself a ‘kid person’ – you know, like some people consider themselves ‘dog people’. (Side note: I’m not really a dog person.) I think that both the hardest and most rewarding thing ever is to catch a really great portrait of a child. They move so quickly, often don’t like taking pictures, and let’s face it – having a camera right in your face (which is what I often need to do to get a really awesome shot) can be a little intimidating. I usually just try to stay really calm and really patient, and trust that at some point in the session, I’ll manage to catch it.
Presenting the whole family:

And we can’t forget the fifth family member; ‘Clip Clop’. (That is seriously his name. Awesome, right?)

My favourite shot of their oldest:

I think Dad was doing something funny here:

Fort Langley has so many awesome spots – especially on a cloudy day you can shoot pretty much anywhere.

Love the view here – that chapel you can see across the water is another really cool location.

This little guy wasn’t too happy about pictures, so he decided he was going to play with a stick instead. Works for me! :)

Thanks so much for a really fun afternoon – it was so nice to meet you and your boys (and Clip Clop).
Hope you love these as much as I do!
